some of you with large screens may be able to notice some posterization in the shadows on his face, just noticed it myself, weeks after queueing this shot

Mysterious. This is a nice shot. Explain what posterization in the shadows means? I'm still learning DrAWic grin
DrAW!: posterization is demonstrated here (http://www.answers.com/posterization?cat=technology&gwp=13)

even though on looking at this again i'm not sure that was the exact cause

Excellent portrait full of tension and mystery. I can't see any posterisation and my screen is pretty big. In fact I can't see any detail in the shadows on his face.
DrAW!: thanks ingrid
i'm not to sure too 'cos i'm getting different results on different screens
Film noir without a doubt ... so many positives with this image
DrAW!: thanks richard

Darkness, mystery, tension... everything that was missing in your previous portraiture works. I'd love to see more stuff like this from you, doc.

posterization whats that? that said this is in my view one of your best doc, quite simply a stunning shot.
DrAW!: thanks tim,
posterization is explained here (http://www.answers.com/posterization?cat=technology&gwp=13)
though it can occur when using some conversion techniques in pp
for instance blacks can be bunched up together in an undetailed manner
