Okay, where to start?

Processing on the face is a tad much in my opinion but more importantly does not match the hands. Not sure about the expression/pose or the combination. Can't see why you cut off the top of the headgear or her left side. Finally, the nose and forehead are a tiny bit too hot.

Not a portrait shooter so just my 2 cents smile
DrAW!: it's actually a 10 megapixel shot
the processing is less than a tad much at full size
(i'm viewing a 50% resized shot and her head's almost filling the screen)

nowadays i try to use a different light for the face alone
(cos that's usually where the magic is)
thanks for the two cents smile
I'm a portrait shooter so I'll make the comment on this one.

I agree, you did too much to the face, why even bother with it, just clean it up, don't have to smoothen it, I don't personally think it's flattering.

The other thing is your pose is not very interesting, I find that a lot of photographers these days don't even bother to sit people in interesting positions, they just make them smile and click, if that's what you wanted then don't include the body in your shot!

Final point in your composition, she's slightly placed to the right of the frame, not sure why but you did't need that curtain on the left in the shot, personally I think it takes away from it.

Good effort but I just thought I'd help you a bit as I don't think I've critisized your work before. I hope this helps.
DrAW!: definitely helps...
always good to get detailed feedback as long as it's honest...
don't always have to agree with the feedback though
cheers and keep posting
As someone who struggles with people pictures I know how hard it is to get it right. Even with my pictures of Helen only about 2 were any good and even these were not without technical shortcomings. Anyway, I'm sure Jide knows his stuff, but one thing I almost always find with your pictures is that the subject looks relaxed and comfortable. that's no mean feat. I bet she likes this picture
DrAW!: thanks bill
she's relaxed cos all she's doing is simply sitting and smiling and not posed in any particular manner
didn't think that warranted cropping off her gorgeous outfit
sometimes what photographers call 'distractions', i call 'information'
cheers for being a fan

...and yes she likes the picture

DrAW!: thanks smile
I like it, but I do think that there is a tad too much contrast between the hands and the face, or even better, between the hand and the rest of the image. but I do like it. And I do agree with soemtimes you include "information", some might find it distraction, but it is all about what YOU want to say as a photographer.
DrAW!: thanks patrick

It is a relaxed, enjoyable shot. However, I think perhaps you're getting more critique than usual because it doesn't have the usual flare of your shots. This feels more like a shot taken for memories' sake than the artistic touch that much of your work has.
DrAW!: thanks jewly
Another magic moment. Its easy to be over critical, the hands aren't what this image is about...just my 2c! wink
DrAW!: smile just enjoyed your 2c
My biggest gripe here is composition. Dead centre would have worked for me smile I like the processing on the face though and i know you were too lazy to edit the hands to match grin Nice pic overall
DrAW!: hey it's the dude
thanks but nah...you don't 'know' i was lazy
